We are delighted to invite applications for a warm, organised and personable School Receptionist to join Kilnwood Vale Primary on a permanent basis. As the first point of contact for pupils, families, staff and visitors, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere within our busy school office. This role offers the opportunity to provide vital administrative support, contribute to the smooth running of daily school operations, and be part of a collaborative team dedicated to supporting our children and community.
In this varied and fast‑paced role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth daily operation of the school office, providing high‑quality administrative support across a wide range of tasks. You will manage incoming enquiries by phone, email and in person, ensuring all communication is handled efficiently and with warmth. Your responsibilities will include:
- Administering first aid and medication in line with policy
- Maintaining accurate pupil records
- Supporting attendance processes
- Assisting with admissions administration
- Using systems such as SIMS, ParentMail and Microsoft Office to produce letters, manage data, prepare resources and keep essential information up to date, including noticeboards, website content and parent communications
- Coordinating school diaries, organising meetings and events
- Supporting extracurricular activities and trips
- Managing deliveries
- Working closely with teaching, administrative and leadership staff to ensure information flows smoothly throughout the school
As a key member of the front‑of‑house team, you will uphold safeguarding practices at all times and contribute to the friendly, organised and professional environment that Kilnwood Vale Primary is proud to offer.
What we’re looking for:
- Good general level of spoken and written English, with GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- Confident administrative and IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
- A friendly, welcoming and professional manner with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly reliable, discreet and able to handle sensitive information confidentially at all times
- Able to work both independently and as part of a busy team, remaining calm and effective under pressure
- Flexible, supportive and committed to safeguarding and maintaining appropriate boundaries with children and young people
