This is an exciting opportunity to join our Design Engineering team as a Senior Design Engineer, playing a key role in delivering high-quality, innovative design solutions across complex structural and temporary works projects. You’ll take ownership of design delivery and checking, provide technical leadership across projects, and support both pre-construction and live works. This role offers real variety, technical challenge, and the chance to influence engineering outcomes across the business.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the development of internal design solutions, including calculations, technical reports, modelling and detailing.
- Carry out independent design checks to ensure accuracy, compliance and buildability.
- Review and approve designs from external consultants, ensuring alignment with Kilnbridge standards.
- Provide expert technical support to project teams on construction methodologies and engineering challenges.
- Advise on the selection, specification and procurement of specialist plant and equipment.
- Coordinate temporary works designs, methodologies and approvals with project teams.
- Contribute to tender-stage planning, including constructability reviews and engineering input.
- Drive value engineering initiatives to optimise cost, efficiency and project outcomes.
- Present technical proposals and engineering solutions to clients and key stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering Technicians and wider teams to deliver coordinated design packages.
- Visit sites to review conditions, support delivery teams and ensure design intent is achieved.
- Support, mentor and develop junior engineers within the team.
- Ensure compliance with internal standards, processes and best practice.
What you’ll need:
- Proven experience in temporary works design across areas such as formwork, falsework, propping, excavation support and crane foundations.
- Strong capability in permanent works design and design checking.
- Solid understanding of construction and demolition processes and methodologies.
- Experience in value engineering and assessment of existing structures.
- Knowledge of complex project environments is advantageous.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant design or drafting tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate technical reports.
- Confident communication and presentation skills, with experience working across multidisciplinary teams.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
- A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
