We are now seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to take a lead role in the planning and management of logistics for a complex airside construction project within a live airport environment. This is a key position for someone with deep airside experience, strong coordination skills and the confidence to manage logistics operations in a highly regulated and operationally sensitive environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop, implement and maintain a project‑specific logistics plan, integrating construction sequencing, material flow and programme milestones.
- Plan and manage laydown areas, storage solutions and delivery zones in close coordination with construction and design teams.
- Manage all logistics bookings via the online portal, ensuring early submission of requests and compliance with Heathrow’s security, scheduling and operational requirements.
- Coordinate vehicle access, load configurations and delivery timings to maintain site flow and minimise congestion or disruption to critical programme activities.
- Track, monitor and report all scheduled deliveries, highlighting risks to programme or planned works and implementing mitigation measures.
- Lead the booking, inspection and coordination process for all airside‑bound materials and equipment.
- Ensure all delivery documentation, load security arrangements and vehicle details meet airport compliance standards, including security vetting where required.
- Liaise closely with suppliers, hauliers and airport personnel to resolve issues, mitigate delays and ensure timely onward movement to site.
- Manage and coordinate a team of logistics operatives, supporting the safe and efficient movement of materials from laydown areas to the workface.
- Work collaboratively with construction, design and health & safety teams to align logistics planning with programme requirements and safe systems of work.
- Attend coordination and planning meetings, providing logistics input on access strategies, hoisting operations, craneage and temporary storage requirements.
- Support the development of phased logistics layouts, drawings and traffic management plans appropriate to live airside operations.
What You’ll Need
- 10–15 years’ relevant logistics experience, with substantial time spent working on projects within a live airport or airside environment.
- Strong understanding of the complexities and constraints of airside working, including security, access control, scheduling and operational coordination.
- Proven experience developing and managing logistics plans on complex, constrained or high‑risk construction projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage logistics bookings, delivery coordination and compliance within heavily regulated environments (e.g. airports or similar).
- Experience managing logistics teams and subcontractors, with a clear focus on safety, efficiency and programme delivery.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders under operational pressure.
- Highly organised, proactive and solution‑focused, with the ability to anticipate and mitigate logistics risks.
- Strong appreciation of health & safety requirements and the confidence to challenge unsafe or non‑compliant practices.
- Competent IT skills, including logistics systems and MS Office.
- Relevant CSCS card required, additional airport or airside accreditations highly desirable.
- Alignment with Kilnbridge’s values: Responsibility, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence.
