Kilnbridge are currently looking for an Appointed Person - ideally from an industrial background - to support our long-term infrastructure project in Sulfolk IP16. The ideal Appointed Person will have experience on large scale industrial/commercial building sites, with the knowledge, experience and ability to plan, supervise, and ensure the safe execution of lifting operations in compliance with legal and industry standards.

Start: ASAP

Duration: Ongoing

Hours: 50 per week

Travel costs: Can be provided if required

Responsibilities:

  • Planning Lifting Operations: Develop detailed lifting plans considering load weight, dimensions, site conditions, and equipment suitability.
  • Risk Assessment & Method Statements: Approve and oversee risk assessments and method statements for all lifting activities.
  • Equipment Selection: Choose appropriate cranes, lifting accessories, and rigging gear based on the task requirements.
  • Team Coordination: Liaise with crane operators, slinger/signallers, supervisors, and site managers to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of lifting plans, equipment inspections, incidents, and training certifications.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all lifting operations comply with LOLER regulations and BS 7121 standards.
  • Training & Competency: Verify that all personnel involved are trained, certified, and competent for their roles.

Requirements:

  • CPCS Blue card - Appointed person (Mandatory)
  • SMSTS (Mandatory)
  • Experience in crane operations and supervision
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to assess site conditions and make safety-critical decisions in a heavy industrial construction site environment.
