General Assistant Role, 26 hours We are seeking a dedicated General Assistant to join our team at Our Mother of Mercy Nursing Home, Newry. The role is part time, 26hrs per week, 9am-2.30pm, 5 days out of 7. This job involves Domestic, Kitchen and Laundry duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the on-duty Cook in all aspects of food preparation, operating laundry equipment to ensure garments and bedding are laundered in a timely manner, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards across various premises and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all occupants. Previous experience work is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. Responsibilities Perform thorough cleaning of designated areas, including offices, corridors, washrooms, and communal spaces. Food preparation, kitchen cleanliness and assisting in mealtimes. Ensure all cleaning tasks meet health and safety standards and organisational policies. Operation of laundry equipment and efficiency in tasks delegated. Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the premises. Restock supplies as needed to ensure continuous availability of cleaning materials. Follow organisational procedures. Requirements Previous experience in commercial cleaning or general assistant work is preferred but not mandatory. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong organisational skills Good physical stamina and mobility to perform cleaning duties effectively. Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude.
