We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our small team, due to a valued member of our team retiring from driving. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods, primarily using flatbed lorries. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers to utilise their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment. The ideal applicant will have previous driver experience and a strong understanding of driving regulations and safety protocols.

This role is mainly for delivering straw into power stations and also some general haulage. Experience is a bonus but training will be given if required to ensure the candidate is confident in their work.

Duties:

  • Operate HGV Class 1 vehicles, predominantly flatbed lorries, in compliance with all legal and safety requirements.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and safety standards are maintained.
  • Safely load, secure, and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling and adherence to weight limits.
  • Plan routes effectively to optimise delivery times whilst complying with legal driving hours.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and vehicle maintenance reports.
  • Follow all road safety regulations and company policies during transportation tasks.
  • Assist with loading and unloading when necessary, ensuring the security of goods during transit.

Qualifications:

  • Valid HGV Class 1 licence with a clean driving record.
  • Valid CPC training.
  • Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed lorries or similar vehicles.
  • Knowledge of road laws and safety regulations relevant to heavy goods vehicle operation.
  • Ability to operate flatbeds safely and securely during loading and unloading processes.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to plan routes efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
