Job Purpose
The Head of Academy at Kilburn Islamic Centre is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of educational and spiritual programmes for children. This includes leading staff, creating age-appropriate curricula aligned with Islamic values, developing strong communication with parents to support pupils’ growth and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Management: Develop, implement, and regularly review the curriculum to ensure students are maximising their potential.
- Staff Management: Oversee staff attendance, provide relevant training, and offer guidance to ensure effective performance.
- Parent Relations: Keep parents informed and engaged in their children’s education, develop meaningful relationships with the families.
- Behavioural Management: Ensure students' behaviour is exemplary, aligned with Islamic values and the ethos of the centre.
- Administration: Manage student attendance and punctuality, tuition fees, class arrangements and more.
Additional Responsibilities
As part of our commitment to refining the Islamic centre experience, we believe that Islamic affairs should be at the heart of the organisation, and it is essential that our staff are empowered to lead and serve our community with knowledge, compassion, and integrity. Therefore, this will lead to additional responsibilities such as leading prayers, performing sermons and conducting classes.
Person Specification
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree: Relevant University degree or equivalent (Essential). Qualified in Memorisation of Qur’an (Essential).
- Experience: Three years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within a non-profit or religious organisation (Essential).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of educational strategies to enhance the organisation, with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively (Desirable).

- IT Proficiency: Proficient in using software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to lead teams, and maintain strong, professional relationships with staff, students and parents.
- Creativity: Skilled in developing innovative and effective teaching strategies tailored to children, particularly in the context of Islamic education. Able to inspire and guide educators in delivering dynamic and relevant content.
- Passion: Deep passion for the mission and values of the Kilburn Islamic Centre, with a strong commitment to promoting lifelong learning, personal development, and community engagement through education.
- Project Management: Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple programmes and initiatives simultaneously. Experienced in setting goals, meeting deadlines, and ensuring quality outcomes in an educational setting.
