Kiez is a Berlin-inspired new opening coming to Notting Hill, built around a tight kebab-led menu, curated cocktails, standout German and Austrian natural wines, and a world-class sound system, all within a seriously design-led space. At 35 covers with a terrace, Kiez will be a small restaurant with big personality - a neighbourhood spot with real energy, strong, curated drinks offering, great music with a bespoke sound-system, and a clear point of view.

We're looking for a Sous Chef to join from the start and help build something worth coming back to.

The Role

This is a hands-on leadership role with real creative scope. You'll run the kitchen day-to-day, lead the team through service, and work closely with the Head Chef on menu development including fermentation and pickling, which are central to how we cook. R&D is built into the week, not squeezed around it. The long-term plan is simple: we want this role to grow into a Head Chef position as Kiez establishes itself. If you're a strong Sous who hasn't had your first HC opportunity yet, this is worth a conversation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Running daily kitchen operations from prep through service
  • Leading, training, and organising a small kitchen team
  • Executing dishes consistently to a high standard every service
  • Contributing to ongoing menu development, fermentation, and pickling
  • Managing stock control, ordering, and waste
  • Upholding food safety and HACCP standards
  • Helping shape the kitchen culture from day one

What You'll Bring

  • Experience in a Sous Chef or Senior CDP role in a quality kitchen
  • Confidence leading a team through service independently
  • A genuine interest in bold, flavour-driven food with a clear identity
  • Hands-on approach and high personal standards
  • Interest in fermentation, preservation, or similar techniques

What's In It For You

  • The chance to be part of one of Notting Hill's most exciting new openings
  • Mondays and Tuesdays off
  • Structured R&D time built into the week
  • A clear path to Head Chef as the business grows
  • Competitive salary package
  • Staff meals on shift and generous staff discount
  • CODE Membership

If this sounds like your kind of kitchen, we'd love to hear from you.
