We are looking for a Senior Environment & Sustainability Advisor to join our Transportation Team based across London and Radlett. Working on our prestigious TKJV and Transport for London (TfL) contracts, which we will be leading on for the next 4 years, with the possibility to extend up to an extra 4 years.

Location: Edmonton / Southwark / Staines, London

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum

What will you be responsible for?

  • As Senior Environment & Sustainability Advisor, you will be working within the SHE team supporting the delivery of our environmental compliance commitments and aiding sustainability initiatives.
  • You will be advising our team on the legal, client and company requirements and procedures meeting environmental compliance obligations, objectives and targets.
  • Your day to day will include:
  • Ensuring the contract application of the Kier Group integrated management system (IMS) is meeting the requirements of ISO 14001:2015.
  • Providing support, guidance, and assistance in obtaining environmental consents, licenses and exemptions following all required legislation.
  • Carrying out documented site inspections and audits of the TKJV and TfL tunnels contracts, maintaining compliance to applicable environmental legislation.
  • Conducting environmental assessments of Kier designed schemes, prior to construction, meeting all compliance requirements.
  • Confirming relevant mitigation is in place and understanding opportunities for improvements.
  • Producing, reviewing and implementing risk assessments and method statements.
  • Working with operational and commercial colleagues to ensure the timely collection and collation of environmental data for client and other reporting requirements.
  • Raising awareness of key environmental issues, identifying training needs, and delivering environmental compliance training.
  • Reinforcing the implementation of the contract's sustainability commitments and initiatives, producing case studies, capturing key learning, carbon and other benefits.

What are we looking for?

  • This role of Senior Environment & Sustainability Advisor is great for you if:
  • You are educated to a degree level or similar in a relevant subject.
  • You will be a professional or full level member of IEMA or equivalent.
  • You have experience working in environmental management, preferably in a construction environment.
  • You are comfortable identifying potential risks/issues on site and advising on appropriate control/mitigation measures.
  • You demonstrate practical experience in maintaining, implementing and improving EMS's certified to BS EN ISO 14001.
  • You are familiar with carrying out compliance inspections and audits resulting in improved performance.
  • You have a hands-on understanding of statutory environmental requirements, including requirements relating to all the key areas associated with environmental assessments of highway construction works.
  • You have exposure liaising with stakeholders including statutory bodies, completing environmental permits or consent applications, along with collecting and collating environmental data including carbon.
