We\’re looking for a Principal Design Engineerto join our Design team based in Salford. You\’ll utilise your extensive experience in delivering successful flood, water management, and drainage projects to achieve exceptional outcomes for a diverse range of clients, including National Highways, local authorities, water industry clients, and significant major projects like the A66 Northern Trans-Pennine. Your dedication to continuous improvement and development will ensure excellence across all projects.
Location: Salford – Office based with some remote working available
Salary: £50,000 – £57,500 + £5.9k annual car allowance + private healthcare + benefits
Responsibilities
As Principal Design Engineer, you\’ll be responsible for leading a team of skilled designers in delivering high-value, high-quality drainage schemes, supporting the Drainage Design Manager in executing the drainage strategy.
Your day to day will include:
- Maintaining the highest standards of quality and project controls established by the team and wider business
- Applying the latest design standards and lessons learnt to projects
- Liaising with statutory and non-statutory bodies obtaining relevant data, licences, and consents
- Driving technical excellence and continued improvement across the team
- Monitoring project delivery and undertaking change control management

This role of Principal Design Engineer is great if you have:
- Civil Engineering degree – or a similar combination of qualifications and / or experience
- Proven expertise in a similar role and successfully leading teams to deliver projects
- Project management qualification and / or experience
