Building in a way that is as considerate of the environment as possible is a key focus for Kier. Environmental management is a key role within our teams and we have an excellent opportunity for an Environmental Manager to join our flagship HMP Glasgow project.
HMP Glasgow, one of Scotland's largest construction projects, conveniently located circa 10 miles North East of the Glasgow city, will deliver a safe, efficient facility for 2000 inmates and staff to replace the historic Barlinnie prison. This could be your opportunity to get involved in delivering a modern new-build custodial facility.
Location: Glasgow, Scotland
Contract: Permanent, full time, flexibility can be considered simply outline in your application.
What will you be responsible for?
- Manage Environmental Advisors within the team to ensure adequate resource allocation, quality of work and completion against project programme.
- Review pre-construction information to evaluate environmental sustainability risks and opportunities.
- Work with pre-construction and project team to deliver sustainable outcomes and manage environmental risk.
- Identify and work with competent consultants/service providers of environmental sustainability services to preconstruction and operational teams.
- Identify and support project team with obtaining authorisations / permits / licences / consents and engage with relevant Regulatory bodies.
- Support the successful delivery of BREEAM, DREAM & CEEQUAL projects.
Who are we looking for?
- You will have experience in a similar managerial role within the construction or civil engineering industry.
- You’ll be proficient in the use of MS Office and have prior knowledge / experience of sustainability schemes such as BREEAM/ DREAM/ CEEQUAL.
- You will be able to demonstrate strong communication and organisational abilities.
- You will have excellent organisational skills, able to manage multiple workloads concurrently.
- You will be able to issue clear written and spoken instruction to internal and external stakeholders.

- Hold relevant qualification in environmental management (Degree level or equivalent).
- CSCS Card.
- Full UK Driving License.
