This is a full-time on-site position for a Room Leader at our Nursery located at Wakefield Country Courtyard in Potterspury, Northamptonshire. The Room Leader will be responsible for ensuring their team are providing a fun, nurturing, safe and healthy environment for children aged 0 to 2 years.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and supervising child initiated and adult led activities based around the needs and interests of the children.
- Ensuring an environment that encourages children to develop socially, emotionally, and cognitively.
- Supporting children to develop numeracy and language skills through games and play.
- Having key person responsibility to help ensure each child feels safe and secure.
- Observing each child and shaping their learning experiences to reflect their observations.
- Communicating clearly and working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, carers, and other professionals.
- Completing necessary documentation such as registers, risk assessments, planning, daily evaluations, fire drills, cleaning schedules, and food & allergen records.
- Ensuring resources are set up and packed away clean and organised at the end of the session.
- Working with the team to ensure food, cleaning materials, and resources are purchased in advance.
- Developing and implementing educational activities that align with KidsStop’s ethos including music, arts & crafts, story-time, and outdoor activities.
It is important that you are organised, forward thinking, driven, hard working, have good communication skills, and are caring and passionate about childcare. You will be expected to get to know the children in your care and plan appropriate, engaging activities for them. Some documentation is electronic and a reasonable amount of computer skills is required, including Word, emails, and Whatsapp. You will report to the KidsStop Deputy Manager or KidsStop Manager.
Qualifications:
- A Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Childcare.
- Minimum of two years of experience working in a similar role.
- Knowledge of child development, child psychology, and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and observational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families to promote the education of children.
- Strong planning and organisational skills; ability to multitask with attention to detail.
- Safeguarding, Food Hygiene, Food Allergens, and First Aid also required.
- Additional qualifications may also be required which can be discussed with the KidsStop Manager.
Working Times: 8:00 – 18:00, Monday – Friday Term Time 50 weeks a year. 7:30 starts to be shared between team members on a rota basis and paid as overtime. KidsStop is open 50 weeks of the year and is closed throughout Christmas from the end of the school term until the start of the new term in January. Flexible/tailored working days may be available upon request.
Holidays: 28 days including bank holidays. To be requested in advance and approved by the KidsStop Manager.
Salary: Depending on experience, skill set, and agreed hours, from £31,682 per annum. Pay rises are given annually to support with the cost of living and additionally based on good performance during performance reviews at the discretion of the KidsStop Manager.
Promotion: KidsStop is an ever-expanding company that aims to give its employees the opportunity for promotion. Positions are available within management which require greater responsibility and offer a higher salary.
Trial Period: The successful candidate will be required to complete a 6-month trial period. Based on satisfactory performance and feedback from KidsStop’s Manager, a permanent position will be offered. Two satisfactory references and DBS are required for candidates to be successful.
Training: KidsStop will always support employees to achieve further qualifications and training. Please discuss this with the KidsStop Manager. Staff meetings are held after work hours and attendance is mandatory. Advance notice will be given. Food and drink is provided. Your continuous professional development (CPD) will be fully funded by KidsStop throughout your employment including all essential childcare training, any KidsStop desired, and any further training of your choosing.
