This is a full-time on-site position for a Deputy Manager at our Preschool & Wrap-around Care, located at Barry Primary School in Northampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall delivery of high-quality care across the setting. KidsStop Barry is set in its own dedicated space within Barry Primary School. The atmosphere within the setting is calm and relaxed with natural, neutral furniture, far removed from the sterile environment in the usual preschool. The setting has a courtyard for free flow inside to out and access to a playground. We aim to provide the highest, consistent, and professional standard of care. The Deputy Manager will be responsible for ensuring that this standard of care is maintained.
The Deputy Manager will also be responsible for ensuring all team members’ practice is consistently stimulating to encourage children to develop socially, emotionally, and cognitively, ready for school. The Deputy Manager will assist in the management of the setting, ensuring the provision of high-quality childcare services, and maintaining high standards of health and safety. They will be expected to supervise and support the staff, liaise with parents and external agencies, and contribute to financial planning and management.
Additionally, the Deputy Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing educational activities that align with KidsStop’s ethos which includes music, arts & crafts, story-time and outdoor activities. This position is a hands-on role which requires the successful candidate to deal with a minimum amount of administration and a large amount of overseeing and participation in the day-to-day care of the children. You will report to the KidsStop Manager and play a key role in maintaining a positive, caring, and stimulating environment for children.
Qualifications
- A Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Childcare
- Significant experience in a supervisory role within a busy childcare setting
- Demonstrated knowledge of child development and safeguarding requirements
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage, prioritise and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team, with a flexible, proactive and positive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety requirements, and relevant regulations and legislation
- Proficiency in IT skills and programs including Microsoft Office and WhatsApp
- Ability to mentor and train staff, and to work with a diverse staff team and families from different backgrounds
- Safeguarding, Food Hygiene, Food Allergens and First Aid also required
- Driving license and access to a vehicle is preferred
Working Times: 8:00 – 18:00 Term Time 38 weeks a year. KidsStop is closed throughout Christmas from the end of the school term until the start of the new term in January. Flexible/tailored working days may be available upon request. Additional hours also available: 8:00 – 18:00 Non Term Time (Holiday Clubs) 12 weeks a year, please discuss with KidsStop Manager.
Holidays: 28 days including bank holidays. To be requested in advance and approved by the KidsStop Manager.
Salary: Depending on experience, skill set, and agreed hours £23,465 per annum (Term Time only) or £30,875 per annum (50 weeks a year). Pay rises are given annually to support with the cost of living and additionally based on good performance during performance reviews at the discretion of the KidsStop Manager.
Promotion: KidsStop is an ever-expanding company that aims to give its employees the opportunity for promotion. Positions are available within management which require a greater responsibility and offer a higher salary.
Trial Period: The successful candidate will be required to complete a 6-month trial period. Based on satisfactory performance and feedback from KidsStop’s Manager a permanent position will be offered. 2 satisfactory references and DBS are required for candidates to be successful.
Training: KidsStop will always support employees to achieve further qualifications and training. Please discuss this with the KidsStop Manager. Staff meetings are held after work hours and attendance is mandatory. Advance notice will be given. Food and drink is provided. Your continuous professional development (CPD) will be fully funded by KidsStop throughout your employment including all essential childcare training, any KidsStop desired and any further training of your choosing.
