Responsibilities include providing special education in a highly structured and safe environment to adolescent students in residential treatment for behavioural disorders. This involves assessing each youth's social, educational, and emotional needs, and intervening therapeutically to promote learning and positive peer and adult interactions.
Tasks include completing lesson plans, IEPs, report cards, Behaviour Scales, and quarterly progress reports on established schedules. Participation with a team of professionals, including other teachers, parents/guardians, therapists, and psychologists, is required to review progress and to develop/implement appropriate education plans. This is a twelve-month position.
Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Education with Special Education concentration required.
- Must be classified as Highly Qualified in a specific area(s).
- Georgia Teaching Certificate required.
- Must possess basic personal computer knowledge and skills.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
