How you’ll make a difference as a SENDCO:
- By taking the lead in assisting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to engage fully in learning and reach their potential.
- Through leading collaboration with families, staff, and external agencies to design and implement tailored support plans that meet each child’s needs.
- By taking responsibility for promoting an inclusive, nurturing environment where all children feel valued, supported, and able to thrive.
What a SENDCO needs:
- Must be at least Level 3 qualified in a UK recognised early years qualification and experience of working at a senior level.
- Have a detailed understanding of the requirements set by Ofsted.
- Excellent understanding of EYFS.
- Extensive knowledge of safeguarding children.
- Experience of working with children with SEND requirements.
- Experience of working in partnership with parents and outside agencies.
- Ability to demonstrate multi agency working and experience of leading staff meetings.
