Candidates will require a Level 3 or greater child care qualification. Candidates should have a strong child led ethos and at least 2 years experience in a nursery setting, preferably with Team/Room Leader experience. Position to start as soon as possible. This is a Monday-Friday full-time position. Shortlisted candidates will require 2 references and an Enhanced DBS Check.
Busy Kids Day Nursery are looking for someone to join our growing nursery. In addition to the above criteria, you must have a warm, smiling face that makes every child feel special and loved. You must be able to laugh at jokes that you don’t understand or don’t find funny. A little bit of quirkiness is preferred. If a child requests that you are a princess, you will be the best fairytale princess you can be.
You must feel comfortable discussing bodily functions and have a strong sense of smell to respond swiftly to said functions. A high level of comfort with being asked personal questions by children is essential. You will regularly be asked about your lunch, whether you are married, and what you did in the toilet.
You should not have an aversion to an environment that may resemble the aftermath of a tornado. The ability to sing out of tune in front of a crowd is essential, while singing in tune is not necessary. A high level of multitasking is essential; if something would normally take 5 minutes, you must be comfortable with it taking 15 minutes or longer.
You must be able to distribute warm hugs as required and possess the skills to rapidly count the heads of numerous moving small people. Comfort in public places with unknown substances on your clothing is necessary, as is the ability to remain focused in high noise levels.
Pretending to eat playdough creations realistically is required, and the ability to remember the names of many children, their parents, siblings, grandparents, pets, and special soft toys is key. You must feel comfortable sitting on furniture that does not contain all of your behind.
Understanding that the small people you build relationships with during the week may refuse to acknowledge you outside of work is important. Your feelings must not be easily hurt. Authentically showing interest in bugs and creepy crawlies is essential, even if they are your biggest fear. You must be prepared to have a lot of fun in the workplace, as laughter is a significant part of your working day.
