We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and reliable Play Worker to join our friendly childcare team. You’ll help deliver a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children aged 4–11 years attending our Breakfast, After School, and Holiday Club sessions.

You’ll support children in play, creative activities, and positive social interactions, ensuring all children feel valued and included.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage children in a variety of play, sports, and creative activities
  • Help plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that promote children’s physical, emotional, and social development
  • Set up and clear away equipment, resources, and snacks before and after sessions
  • Promote positive behaviour and a caring atmosphere where every child feels safe and respected
  • Support children during mealtimes/snack times and encourage healthy eating habits
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating play environment in line with health & safety and safeguarding policies
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents/carers, and colleagues
  • Assist with record-keeping, attendance registers, and accident/incident reports as required
  • Contribute ideas for improving the club and supporting children’s wellbeing

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Enjoy working with children and creating a fun, inclusive atmosphere
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a small team
  • Awareness of safeguarding, child protection, and health & safety principles
  • Good communication skills and a caring, positive attitude

Desirable:

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Playwork, Childcare, or Early Years Education (or working towards)
  • Paediatric First Aid certificate
  • Food Hygiene certificate
  • Previous experience in a childcare, nursery, school, or playwork setting

Hours of Work

  • Breakfast Club: approx. 7:30am – 9:00 am (Mon–Fri, term-time)
  • After School Club: approx. 2:45 pm – 6:00 pm (Mon–Fri, term-time)
  • Holiday Club: flexible hours between 7.30 am – 6:00 pm (school holidays)
