KiddyKare is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established, independent nursery that is seeking an experienced and passionate Early Years SENCO to lead and develop SEND provision within a warm, inclusive, and child-centred environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated SEN professional who is committed to ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive during their crucial early years. You will play a key leadership role within the nursery, working collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals to deliver high-quality, individualised support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate, and continuously develop SEN support across the nursery in line with the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle
  • Act as the nursery’s SEN lead, ensuring inclusive practice is embedded throughout the setting
  • Support, mentor, and advise staff to build confidence and consistency in delivering effective SEN strategies
  • Work closely with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure children’s individual needs are fully understood and met
  • Maintain accurate SEN documentation and contribute to Ofsted readiness and inspections
  • Ensure safeguarding, health, and safety standards are always upheld in line with statutory requirements

Requirements

  • SENCO qualification or equivalent experience supporting SEN within an Early Years / EYFS setting
  • Strong working knowledge of the EYFS framework, SEND Code of Practice, and safeguarding procedures
  • Proven experience supporting children aged 0–5 with a range of additional needs
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills
  • A compassionate, child-focused approach with a commitment to inclusive practice
  • Experience liaising with external agencies and/or local authority SEN services
  • Knowledge of therapies such as Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy
  • Previous experience contributing to SEN funding applications or EHCP processes
