Junior Sustaining Engineer
Location: Herne Bay, Kent, UK
Contract: Full-time, permanent
About This Role
The Junior Sustaining Engineer plays a key role in minimising product downtime, troubleshooting technical issues, resolving component life cycle issues, and driving continuous improvement and productivity activities within both the manufacturing and engineering environments.
Working with engineers, operators, and quality personnel, the engineer helps sustain products while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Work autonomously, take ownership of tasks, and collaborate effectively with colleagues across engineering, production, and quality functions.
- Understand how to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Understand electronic circuits and review electronic component datasheets.
- Analyse electronic circuit designs and identify key characteristics to find suitable alternative components.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through circuit or component replacement and process improvement.
- Prepare product and component factory release notes.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
