Kick On Recruitment is working on behalf of our client to recruit a Land Support Officer to join their Land Support function at a large, multi-use outdoor site. The site includes woodland, open spaces, landscaped gardens, water features and a range of buildings and facilities. While the role is broader than a traditional equestrian position, it does involve working alongside horses and other animals on site as part of a varied, outdoor-focused role. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining, developing and enhancing the land and facilities to a high professional standard, supporting the smooth and safe delivery of essential site services. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in delivering high-quality land and grounds maintenance across a diverse environment.

Role Responsibilities

  • Ensure daily maintenance schedules are carried out and completed.
  • Ensure any daily and weekly tasks allocated are carried out and completed.
  • Ensure any building maintenance tasks are carried out and completed.
  • Support any projects and developments.
  • Respond to any urgent tasks that are a risk to services and service users.
  • Ensure that site security procedures are adhered to, that risk assessments are carried out to a high standard and that the site management is kept as a top priority.
  • Ensure all company assets, equipment and facilities are clean, tidy, well maintained and safe always.
  • Ensure that any start and end of day procedures are adhered to and that the security of the company assets and materials are secured accordingly.

Team Responsibility

  • Effectively work alongside the senior managers and staff.
  • Report on a daily basis to the Land Support Supervisor.
  • Respond to senior management requests from contracted work.
  • Ensure as a team, all maintenance, tasks and projects are completed on time and to a professional standard.
  • Work across teams supporting other areas of the business when required.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of procedures and produce constructive solution orientated feedback in team meetings.
  • Understand business processes and supporting systems, specifically Health and Safety and Safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people.
  • Demonstrate an excellent level of understanding of the company portfolio of services.
  • Assist in the project management of new initiatives, activities and developments.
  • Assist in the design and development of new initiatives, activities and developments.
  • Help develop procedures for working practice within the Land Support Team.

Personal Development and Reporting

  • Update your 4-6 weekly PDP regularly in a timely fashion for management review and attend your Personal Development Plan (PDP) meeting with your line manager.
  • Attend team meetings as and when required which may be outside of your normal working hours to ensure that land support is not impacted.
  • Be flexible to attend evening or weekend training that are outside of your contracted hours on occasion for CPD as required for your development within your role.
  • Prepare to undertake any professional training or personal development with the very best intentions and ability to ensure passing or attaining certification.
  • Ensure that all Sickness or Absence is reported according to Company Procedures.
  • Ensure that Holiday Requests are processed according to Company Procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in a similar outdoor gardening‐landscaping role.
  • Proven experience and understanding of working outside all year round in all weather.
  • Ability to drive sit on lawnmower and or RV type vehicles.
  • Ability to use power tools.
  • Knowledge of plant and tree species and their care requirements.
