About The Role & Who We’re Scouting
We’re on the lookout for a passionate and skilled Sports Turf Operative to join our squad at Leicester City Football Club. As a Skilled Sports Turf Operative, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that the football pitches at the King Power Stadium and training facilities are maintained to the highest professional standards.
Responsibilities
- Performing daily maintenance tasks on football pitches, including mowing, edging, and line marking, to ensure optimal playing conditions.
- Assisting in the application of fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides as instructed by senior staff.
- Carrying out aeration, scarification, and topdressing to promote healthy turf growth and enhance pitch quality.
- Regularly inspecting pitch conditions, identifying and reporting any issues such as wear, disease, or drainage problems to the 1st Assistant Pitch Manager.
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations and protocols during pitch maintenance activities.
- Assisting the grounds team in setting up for matches, training sessions, and other events as required.
- Collaborating with the 1st Assistant Pitch Manager and other staff to execute pitch maintenance plans and improvements efficiently.
Ideal Candidate
- A diploma or certification in Sports Turf Management, Horticulture, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in sports turf maintenance or groundskeeping, ideally within a professional sports environment.
- Experience of operating a range of groundskeeping machinery and performing various turf management tasks.
- In-depth knowledge of sports turf management practices, including the maintenance of both natural and synthetic pitches.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of pitch quality.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable and dedicated, with a strong work ethic and a passion for sports turf management.
- Proactive and able to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
