Derby County are seeking a Foundation Phase Coach to support the Academy Coaching department on a casual basis at Moor Farm Training Centre. The role will focus on supporting the Foundation Phase (U9‑U11) to achieve targets set in the Academy Performance Plan, Academy Playing & Coaching Philosophy and Values, and will be responsible for delivering the coaching programme within this phase.
Key Role Responsibilities
- Coach an age‑group squad and manage the progression and individual development of players within the phase.
- Ensure adherence to the academy’s holistic player development approach.
- Complete Football Intelligence Platform (FIP) and Hudl requirements in accordance with academy policies.
- Conduct player/parent review meetings every twelve weeks as per academy guidelines.
- Co‑ordinate and manage all necessary arrangements for games within the age‑group‑specific programme.
- Take responsibility for personal development through the Development Action Plan per the DCFC Coach Competency Framework.
- Pursue and undertake relevant CPD to meet role demands.
- Support the retain and release process in line with club policies and procedures.
- Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of customers and colleagues, complying with health and safety guidance and policy.
- Maintain and improve the club’s safeguarding provision, upholding the highest standards for safeguarding children and adults at risk.
- Promote organisational policies and procedures, including equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Present and promote a professional public image when representing the organisation.
- Carry out other duties as reasonably required for the post.
Personal Characteristics and Experience
- Coaching experience within a football academy environment.
- Experience using the Football Intelligence Platform (desirable).
- Coaching experience within a Category 1 environment in FP (desirable).
- Hardworking, enthusiastic and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Capability to build positive relationships with players, staff and stakeholders.
- Strong prioritisation and workload management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Adaptability to changing circumstances.

- FA Youth Award.
- Level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football.

Benefits and Conditions
The role is paid a sessional coaching rate, dependent on the type of session delivered. It is a seasonal, casual, part‑time role with an initial fixed term until May 2027, based at the Derby County Training Centre, with some travel required.
