We're looking for a Mid-weight Strategist to join our Strategy team at an independent marketing agency in London. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid agency experience who is ready to take the lead on running strategic projects across brand, campaign and digital.
You'll work closely with our Head of Strategy, creatives, client services and delivery teams to develop strategies that identify and activate the buying behaviours that drive sales for our clients. Our client base spans global B2B and consumer brands, including a multinational organisation we've partnered with for over 30 years. That history gives us access to multiple areas of their business and creates opportunities to work on varied, meaningful briefs.
The role involves developing clear, insight-driven strategies that give our creative work a competitive edge. At heart, you're a storyteller — able to take clients on a journey from identifying the problem, narrowing down to a solution and justifying a creative execution. You'll be thoughtful, articulate and confident presenting your point of view, regardless of the seniority in the room.
You will take an active interest in your clients' businesses, understanding their objectives, markets and customers. You'll delve into qual and quant research to find the insights that unlock a brief, and you'll design and run your own workshops with key client stakeholders, virtually or in person.
You will be organised and pragmatic, able to turn work around at pace while keeping laser focus on the client brief — and always looking for opportunities to add value through creativity and innovation. You will also be a positive and collaborative member of the team, sharing work in progress, feeding into others' thinking, supporting colleagues and setting a strong example for junior team members.
What you'll be doing:
- Finding the insight: You'll pull together company audits, customer insights and competitor reviews, and dig into research to produce clear, original insights that inspire ground-breaking ideas.
- Shaping the strategy: You'll develop clear objectives and plan multi-layered strategies across a wide range of brands, reframing briefs and aligning clients with your strategic vision.
- Inspiring great work: You'll create, write and deliver engaging creative briefs, informing and inspiring creative teams to deliver work that excites clients and moves the needle on commercial outcomes.
- Proving it works: You'll work closely with internal teams on effectiveness and performance reporting, turning data into insights and recommendations that strengthen the work and the client relationship.
- Connecting the dots: You'll look beyond individual briefs and understand how projects ladder up to wider strategies, campaigns and business objectives — for our clients and for the agency.
What success looks like:
- Working smart: You'll build strong client relationships and develop a clear understanding of their business, category and customers. You'll manage your projects, deadlines and quality with strong attention to detail, prioritising your workload effectively and looking for ways to improve how things get done.
- Looking out for each other: You'll be a reliable, accountable team member who manages up well and communicates clearly. You'll support junior colleagues with constructive feedback, help them build confidence and contribute positively to the wider team culture.
- Being the best you can be: You'll stay curious about how the world works — clients, categories, culture, behavioural science and the role of creativity and technology in solving business challenges. You'll form informed opinions, bring energy to the work and represent the agency with professionalism and pride.
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in an agency environment, working on brand, campaign or content strategy.
- A track record of developing insights and strategies that have shaped effective creative work.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to write accurate, engaging and persuasive content.
- Confidence presenting to clients and internal stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience working with qual and quant research, and running workshops with client stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a highly collaborative way of working.
- A genuine interest in brands, behavioural science, advertising and how great work gets made.
Growth in the role:
This role is designed for someone looking to keep progressing. You'll have the opportunity to broaden your strategic craft, deepen your client and category knowledge and take on greater responsibility across accounts and new business. For the right person, the next step is Senior Strategist. You'll be supported to build the skills, confidence and experience needed to get there.
