Accounts Assistant Uckfield £32,000-£35,000 per annum Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm January 2027 start We're recruiting for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join an established and growing business within the construction sector. Working as part of a small finance team, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day running of the accounts function, supporting accurate and timely financial processing. This is a varied, hands-on position suited to someone who is organised, proactive and happy to get stuck in wherever needed to help the team meet deadlines. Key Responsibilities - Process purchase ledger invoices, matching them to purchase orders and liaising with suppliers for supporting documentation - Process weekly subcontractor payments and manage CIS payments - Support weekly payroll processing for site operatives - Complete month-end reconciliations and assist with general accounting duties - Liaise with site foremen to confirm operative bookings and ensure payments are processed accurately - Manage a shared finance mailbox, responding to queries and following up outstanding information - Maintain accurate financial records using internal databases and online systems - Provide cover for colleagues and support additional finance tasks as required Candidate Profile - Previous experience in an accounts or finance role - Essential experience processing CIS payments - Strong Excel skills and confidence working with online systems and databases - Good numerical ability, accuracy and excellent attention to detail - Well-organised, self-motivated and able to manage competing priorities - A positive, flexible attitude with a willingness to support colleagues and take the initiative - Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a small team - AAT Level 2 or 3 qualified or studying towards or relevant accounting degree Benefits - 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays - Company pension contributions - Discretionary annual bonus - Christmas shutdown - Optional membership of a company healthcare scheme - Ongoing training and support to continue your accountancy qualifications - Regular staff training and social events At KHR, we take care to ensure that you are represented as well as possible, so it is worth checking your CV for layout, spelling and grammar as well as making sure it is up to date before you submit.
