KHR are supporting an internationally recognised precision engineering business that is continuing to invest and expand its manufacturing capability. Due to continued growth, the business is looking to hire a skilled and detail-focused Manual Machinist (Turner) to support this pivotal stage of expansion.
The Role
As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for the manufacture of high-precision metal components using manual lathes and milling machines, ensuring all parts are produced to tight tolerances, engineering drawings, and strict quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual lathes and milling machines to produce precision components
- Machine small metal parts to exact engineering specifications
- Work to tight tolerances and high-quality finish standards
- Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
- Carry out basic inspection of completed components
- Use measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers, and bore gauges
- Complete relevant production and quality documentation
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety procedures at all times
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience operating manual lathes and milling machines
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and machining principles
- Ability to work to very tight tolerances with excellent attention to detail
- Experience within a machine shop or precision engineering environment (desirable)
- Strong commitment to quality and safe working practices
- Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-focused
- Occasional travel to client sites may be required (planned in advance, expenses covered)
- Due to location, a full driving licence is required
