Accounts Assistant – Staplehurst – Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 (DOE).
Join a growing UK distributor’s finance team, working closely with the Financial Controller. The role involves handling both sales and purchase ledger activities and supporting the wider business with day-to-day financial administration.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase Ledger
- Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Reconcile supplier statements.
- Assist with supplier payment runs and handle supplier queries.
Sales Ledger
- Raise customer invoices and credit notes.
- Upload invoices via external software platforms.
- Send customer statements.
- Support resolution of customer account queries.
Credit Control
- Post daily receipts and process card payments.
- Chase outstanding balances and maintain healthy cash flow.
- Monitor customer accounts and place accounts on hold where necessary.
General Accounts Support
- Maintain accurate sales and purchase ledgers.
- Manage finance inboxes and respond to enquiries.
- Assist with ad‑hoc finance and administrative duties.
- Handle incoming post and support the wider finance function.
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in an accounts or finance administration role.
- Good understanding of accounting processes and procedures.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with spreadsheets.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Confident communication skills and ability to liaise professionally with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
- A proactive, self‑motivated approach and willingness to learn.
