The Creative Design Assistant supports the Designer & Product Developer and Head of Creative across both design and product development, contributing to the creation of collections from concept through to final product. This role offers hands-on experience across the full product development lifecycle, combining creative input with day-to-day support across design tasks, technical development, sample management, and fittings. The position plays an important role in bringing collections to life while supporting a smooth and organised development process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design & Creative Support
- Support the development of design concepts, sketches, and range building
- Assist with CADs, design amendments, and technical drawings
- Conduct trend research, competitor analysis, and sourcing inspiration for new styles, fabrics, and trims
- Assist in developing new categories and design ideas aligned with brand direction
- Support preparation for design meetings and collection reviews
- Product Development & Sampling
- Support the sample tracking process from initial request through to approval
- Support general communication with suppliers and follow up on outstanding queries
- Follow up with factories for sample updates, shipping confirmations, and development progress
- Maintain and update product development trackers and timelines
- Assist in checking samples against tech packs before fittings and flag any obvious inconsistencies
- Prepare and support fit sessions, including taking notes and assisting with follow-up comments
- Assist in reviewing garments and writing comments on fit, quality, and alignment with the intended design
- Update tech packs with fit comments and product changes, ensuring accuracy
- Support communication of sample feedback and technical amendments to factories under guidance
- Support the design-to-development handover, ensuring information is clear and organised
- Photoshoot & General Support
- Coordinate photoshoot samples and ensure all garments are prepared and available
- Assist on shoot days where required (styling prep, steaming, organisation)
- Support post-shoot tasks such as sample returns and light image selection/editing
Key Skills & Experience:
- Fashion Design or Product Development related degree
- 0–2 years experience in a fashion design or product development role
- Strong interest in fashion design, garment construction, and how products are developed
- Ability to sketch, create CADs, or visually communicate design ideas
- Creative eye for colour, silhouette, and detail
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks
- Confident communicator with the ability to liaise with internal teams and suppliers
- Proactive, hands-on, and eager to learn
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills
- Team player with a positive and collaborative attitude
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Competent in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets
