About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electronic Fire & Security Service Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, fault-finding, and repairing a wide range of electronic security and fire alarm systems. This is an excellent opportunity to work with the latest technologies while delivering high-quality service to commercial clients across Reading and the surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, diagnose faults, and repair electronic security and fire detection systems.
- Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure systems operate effectively.
- Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system documentation to configure, repair, and modify installations.
- Complete accurate service reports and maintenance records to meet compliance and quality standards.
- Keep up to date with industry standards (including NSI, FIA, and BSI) and emerging technologies.
- Deliver excellent customer service while working independently and managing your workload effectively.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in electronic security service and maintenance (fire alarm experience is desirable but not essential).
- Strong knowledge of CCTV, Intruder Alarm, and Access Control systems.
- Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Good understanding of current industry standards.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with systems from manufacturers such as Hikvision, Paxton, Texecom, Galaxy, Advanced, or similar.
- Knowledge of IP networking and integrated security systems.
- IPAF, PASMA, or other relevant certifications.
- FIA, ECS, or other industry-recognised qualifications.
