KG Electrical are a specialist electrical contractor based in Harpenden. Operating since 2013, they work on high-end residential properties, listed buildings, garden lighting installations, and luxury refurbishments across Hertfordshire and North London.

Job Purpose: To supervise and deliver electrical installation projects safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role combines site supervision, technical oversight, project management, stock control, and estimating, ensuring efficient use of resources and high levels of client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Supervision & Delivery
    • Supervise electrical projects from initiation to completion across commercial, industrial, or residential sites.
    • On site visits and spot checks as required.
    • Coordinate and manage electricians, improvers, and subcontractors on site.
    • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, drawings, schedules, and programmes.
    • Monitor progress against deadlines and estimates, resolving issues proactively.
    • Liaise with stakeholders and suppliers to ensure smooth project delivery.
    • Conduct site meetings, toolbox talks, and progress updates as required.
    • Ensure timely completion of documentation.
  • Technical Responsibilities
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to site teams.
    • Interpret electrical drawings, schemes of work, specifications, and method statements.
    • Ensure installations comply with current regulations and standards, including BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) and IET guidance.
    • Carry out or oversee testing, inspection, certification, and commissioning.
    • Identify and resolve technical issues or design discrepancies.
    • Verify and sign off all EICR certifications ensuring compliance with BS7671.
    • Knowledge of applicable Building Regulations and Standards where relevant.
  • Project Management & Administration
    • Assist with project planning and resource allocation.
    • Track team efficiency and material usage.
    • Prepare and maintain site documentation, including Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), progress reports, and installation and test records.
    • Manage variations, ensuring any changes are documented and communicated.
    • Monitor project spend and identify potential overruns early.
    • Provide clients with timely updates and manage their project expectations.
  • Stock & Materials Management
    • Take responsibility for project-related stock and materials.
    • Order materials in line with project schedules and estimates.
    • Monitor stock levels to ensure availability while minimising waste and excess.
    • Maintain accurate stock records and tool registers.
    • Regular tool inspections.
    • Ensure correct handling, storage, and security of materials and tools.
    • Liaise with suppliers to resolve shortages, returns, or damaged goods.
  • Estimating & Commercial Support
    • Producing estimates and managing ongoing project costs.
    • Carry out site surveys and fault finding at client sites.
    • Provide feedback on actual costs versus estimates to improve future accuracy.
    • Job valuations for invoicing.
  • Health, Safety & Quality
    • Promote a strong health and safety culture on site.
    • Ensure compliance with company H&S policies and statutory requirements.
    • Conduct site inspections and safety audits.
    • Ensure quality of workmanship meets company and client standards at all times.
  • Leadership and Management
    • Supervision of Electricians and Improvers to ensure that they are competent and adequately supervised.
    • Quarterly and annual reviews.
    • Provide support and mentoring.
    • Identify specific training and development needs.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.
  • Other Duties
    • Fleet Management (including van inspections).
    • Office support.
    • Ad hoc duties as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Supervisor, Lead Electrician, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical installation and testing practices.
  • Experience supervising teams on construction or refurbishment projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Good organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing materials, stock, and suppliers.
  • Basic estimating or cost control experience.
  • Experience across multiple project types (commercial, industrial, residential).
  • Familiarity with NICEIC and their assessments.
  • Knowledge of project management software or job management systems.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
  • Inspection & Testing qualification (2391-52).
