Working with Treasure Seekers, the ideal person for this role will have a passion to see people develop skills and change their lives for the better. You will need strong people skills, and be able to show patience and understanding whilst maintaining good professional boundaries. You’ll be part of a team, so good communication is key. You’ll also need to be self‑motivated and confident working independently. Having a flexible and adaptable attitude is crucial, because the needs of those we work with can change quickly. A good level of emotional resilience is definitely an asset, and a non‑judgemental approach to mental health, recovery, and relapse.

In all of our roles, either an Enhanced or basic DBS check and two references will be required before you can start working for us. That’s just part of making sure everyone stays safe.

The Youth Support team creates a safe and engaging environment for young people who may be facing challenges around mental health, neurodiversity, or social isolation. Based in the basement below The Cavern, the team delivers structured youth activities and drop‑in support that help young people build self‑esteem, develop healthy relationships, and find positive direction. Everything is grounded in the understanding that all young people deserve safe spaces and trusted adults who believe in them. The goal is always to support each young person to grow in confidence, resilience and hope.

Purpose of Role: To enable young people to become the best version of themselves by driving the vision, values and culture of Treasure Seekers through the leadership of youth support services. This role ensures the department remains a healthy and stable part of the organisation and supports young people’s long‑term growth and resilience.

Main Activities/Tasks:

  • To ensure the smooth running of the service day‑to‑day
  • To have responsibility for administrative tasks such as the working rota, return to work interviews, holidays/absences, etc.
  • To support the team in staying on top of their own administrative duties such as training and handovers
  • To provide ongoing support and training to the team
  • To complete reviews with staff when applicable
  • To support and engage with those attending the drop in
  • To manage the environment, including managing any behavioural challenges
  • To be the point of contact for any concerns from the service users
  • To attend multi‑agency meetings
  • Supporting service users off site as needed and appropriate
  • To assist with maintaining a clean and tidy environment
  • To encourage and enthuse your fellow team members
  • To promote a strong safeguarding culture by ensuring all staff understand and actively apply safeguarding processes
  • To have a basic understanding of mental health
  • Maintain good professional working relationships with relevant external organisations
  • Connect with other departments within Treasure Seekers to collaborate and share learning, including referring service users to those departments where possible
  • To attend training and regular professional development
  • To work with the Senior Leadership team
  • To work within the policies and procedures of Kingfisher Treasure Seekers
  • To promote Kingfisher Treasure Seekers and its work
  • Any other duties as required

Hours: 15 hours per week – 3 shifts, and 3 hours of admin.

Location: Treasure Seekers Building, 52 Westgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 2NF
