The Pharmacy Manager & Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the operational delivery, governance, and continuous development of pharmacy services across KFM sites. The post holder will ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centred services while maintaining full compliance with regulatory, legal, and professional standards, including GPhC and Good Distribution Practice requirements. Acting as deputy to the Superintendent Pharmacist, the role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational management, including workforce planning, financial oversight, medicines management, and quality assurance. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the safe and efficient operational delivery of outpatient pharmacy services across KFM sites
  • Ensure full compliance with GPhC standards, legal requirements, and governance frameworks
  • Provide leadership and professional accountability to pharmacy teams, including recruitment, development, and performance management
  • Deputise for the Superintendent Pharmacist and contribute to strategic planning, innovation, and service expansion
  • Oversee medicines management, including procurement, dispensing, supply, and patient counselling
  • Maintain and improve quality management systems aligned to Good Distribution Practice (GDP)
  • Manage budgets, financial performance, and stock control to ensure cost-effective service delivery
  • Lead governance, risk management, audits, and continuous service improvement initiatives
  • Build strong relationships with clinical teams, stakeholders, and service partners

Requirements

  • Registered Pharmacist with the GPhC with at least 5 years post-registration experience
  • Significant experience in pharmacy management (hospital or community setting)
  • Proven senior leadership experience, including team management and service development
  • Strong knowledge of medicines legislation, Controlled Drugs regulations, and NHS systems
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management, governance, and quality assurance
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills
  • Ability to manage complex services and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to patient safety
