Join to apply for the Lead QA – 12 Month FTC role at KFC UK & Ireland

We sell the world’s best chicken. Seriously. And we’ve done it since 1939, when the idea of crispy, original recipe chicken took Kentucky by storm. Now, we’re proud to serve 1000+ communities across the UK and Ireland, bringing the grit, pride and iconic reputation that we started with, all those years ago.

Across the Restaurant Support Centre (RSC), we come to work to be ourselves, and to make something of ourselves. We want to see our potential go that little bit further, as part of one of the world’s most iconic brands.

What’s the gig? Well, you support our restaurants — and we’ll support you every step of the way. Simple. Our doors are open — and they can take you anywhere.

All we ask is that you be you. Because that makes us, us. Sound good? Great. Let’s find out about that job.

THE TEAM

Our Tech team is a 60+ strong team of curious minds, building the digital experiences that power KFC – from app to kiosk, delivery to checkout. We work cross-functionally, move fast, and stay focused on what matters: creating smart solutions that make things better for our customers and our teams.

About the role

KFC is embarking on an exciting transformation journey over the next 12-24 months that will completely change how we process orders into our restaurants. This will see the complete change of our Point of Sale, Menu and Store Operating Systems. The Programme is complex, spanning multiple teams across the business and will be a key strategic priority for the company.

From a technology perspective we will be looking to streamline restaurant data, drive operational resilience, increase the speed and performance of our marketing retail calendar and provide better insights for the business.

This purpose of this role will be to lead the QA function for the overall programme, ensuring that the end-to-end solution meets functional and non-functional requirements at a sufficient quality level for deployment to our restaurants.

What will you spend your time doing?

  • Manage the work of other QA personnel attached to the programme.
  • Work with the programme Business Analyst and key stakeholders to understand system requirements, processes and acceptance criteria.
  • Create the Test Strategy for the programme, considering incremental software delivery, hardware, software (on-premise and cloud) and third-party integrations. The test strategy must consider unit and system testing and provide for a regression suite to ensure the quality of system releases during development and following initial deployment.
  • Create and manage the programme test plan, considering resource and timing constraints.
  • Work with the programme business analyst, business process stakeholders, and QA resources, to create and document (ideally in a test repository) the test cases needed to implement the test plan.
  • Work with the Infrastructure team to setup and maintain the test lab.
  • Look for opportunities to introduce test automation.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Project Manager and other stakeholders on test activities.
  • Run the test plan using QA and business resources as appropriate.

What we love from you:

  • Retail Systems: EPOS, Digital Sales Channels, Cashless Payments, Back-office functions, In-store IT Infrastructure, reporting.
  • Experience defining and maintaining quality test scenarios and scripts.
  • Proven ability to identify and create defects effectively.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery methodology.
  • Experience testing both hardware and software.
  • Confident in providing regular updates on progress and escalating risks when necessary
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders and third parties.
  • 5+ years Lead QA or Test Manager experience.
  • ISTQB software testing certification

About you:

Above all we are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, self-starter to fit into our diverse culture and understand what needs to be done and who needs to be engaged to move things forward.

You should absolutely be able to quickly identify solutions and ways forward, including who needs to be engaged; but above all bring clarity and calmness to those around you.

  • Self-starter – can you pick things up quickly and move forwards?
  • Passion for technology – does it excite you?
  • Want to make a difference – what’s your brand and your values?

What’s in it for you:

We offer benefits that make your life that little bit easier — because we know the juggle is real.

From flexible, hybrid working to Fri-Yay early finishes and Live Well Days, we’ve created a package that supports the real you, in and out of work.

You’ll get:

Bonus scheme linked to company & personal performance
