Im currently supporting one of the UKs leading universities with the recruitment of a Principal Data Engineer to join their growing Data function. This is a key role within the team, combining hands-on engineering with technical leadership and strategic input. Youll play a major role in shaping the universitys enterprise data platform capability while leading a team of Data Engineers across a modern Microsoft ecosystem.

Youll be responsible for:

  • Providing technical leadership across the Data Engineering function
  • Designing and evolving enterprise-scale data platforms and roadmaps
  • Leading on best practice across data governance, quality, and engineering standards
  • Supporting and mentoring a team of Data Engineers
  • Driving CI/CD and DevOps maturity across the data environment
  • Working closely with stakeholders across the university to deliver scalable and reliable data solutions

You must have:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric
  • Proven background in Data Engineering within enterprise environments
  • Experience with data governance and data quality frameworks
