About the Role
An ambitious UK university in the East Midlands is embarking on a major digital transformation journey and is seeking an experienced Cloud & Infrastructure Architect to play a pivotal role in shaping its hybrid cloud future.
Youll lead the design and development of infrastructure solutions that seamlessly connect on-premise and cloud technologies, helping to modernise core systems and drive the adoption of scalable, secure, and sustainable digital platforms.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence strategy at an early stage of the universitys cloud adoption journey, bringing your architectural expertise to create future-ready solutions that enhance performance, security, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and deliver secure, scalable hybrid infrastructure solutions integrating cloud, on-premise, and legacy systems
- Assess and document existing infrastructure to inform long-term migration and optimisation roadmaps
- Embed security by design principles into all infrastructure planning and delivery
- Advise leadership on hybrid cloud strategy and align solutions with broader digital transformation goals
- Collaborate across teams to modernise services, streamline operations, and promote innovation
- Support sustainability and resilience, ensuring solutions contribute to environmental goals and business continuity
About You
Youre a forward-thinking technical leader with a track record of designing and implementing complex hybrid or cloud infrastructure solutions. You combine strong technical capability with a collaborative mindset and the ability to translate technical vision into business impact.
Youll also bring:
- Proven experience designing and migrating hybrid cloud and on-premise environments
- Expertise in cloud technologies (preferably Azure) and infrastructure modernisation
- Strong understanding of cloud security architectures and regulatory compliance
- Excellent communication skills able to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, or public cloud provider qualifications are highly desirable
Experience within the higher education or public sector environment is advantageous but not essential
