The predicted salary is between 50000 - 65000 £ per year.
Immediate start available, 6 month duration initially. To work with the asset management team in the delivery of projects across the campus. You will ensure that the project delivery is professional, compliant, adheres to the University’s procurement, financial and Health and Safety regulations, whilst being effective, nimble, on budget, on time and completed to the expected standard/quality.
You will liaise with key stakeholders on campus, building strong customer relationships and ensuring that the Fit for Kings culture is a continuous presence on site. You will use your technical expertise to support the wider Asset Management and Engineering team in the delivery of projects across all campus. These projects will range from small and simple minor works to complex and high value strategic technical projects for the campus. The aim of these works is to continually improve the estate for our community, by creating environments which inspire and support learning and research, while protecting and honouring our heritage buildings.
Project ManagementTo manage the acceptance, governance, and allocation of projects within the team. To support the Campus Projects team with the client brief, design, management, commissioning and snagging of projects. Assist/prepare budget costs and create reports for funding approval and review costs as required during the progress and completion of a project. Provide support to the team and directly oversee the appointment and management of teams of contractors/consultants to complete the project. This includes interviewing, tendering, preparation of contracts and processing payments for goods received and process invoices in compliance with the Colleges rules and regulations. Manage statutory compliance and H&S for projects to ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with current legislation, Codes of Practice, College policies and other appropriate guidance documents. Comply with the Department’s procedures for the effective management of contractors, including the Permit to Work system. To ensure all projects are made as accessible as possible by the comprehensive application of the Equality Act 2010. To promote and lead by example collaborative working with all stakeholders; both internal and external. Ensure project management information is accurate so it can be accessed during the project as well as post completion. Manage monthly reporting packs from each project identifying issues, risks both commercially and in delivery. Identifying exceptional reporting occurrences, ensuring information is presented to management in an efficient manner.
SustainabilityTo understand and enact the College’s policies and priorities on Energy; Waste; and Resource Management. To consider sustainability at all stages of a project to ensure the team is contributing to the Colleges Vision 2026.
GeneralBe prepared to, on an occasional basis- undertake work outside of normal working hours/weekends in line with the demands of project. To own and deliver an appropriate change management programme as required that is based upon the strategy and plans of the wider department.
Skills, experience and education:- Degree/Post Grad in relevant field or equivalent experience in Project Management
- Demonstrable knowledge of H&S legislation with IOSH/NEBOSH
- Experience of managing all aspects of project management with tangible and demonstrable success with regards to quality, cost, and timescale parameters, and including but not limited to stakeholders, management strategy, comms strategy, risk management, financial forecasting and management, H&S management, legal/regulatory compliance, etc.
- Relevant experience within Higher Education sector and/or managing conflicting demands of stakeholders in a customer focused environment.
- Analytical aptitude, with planning and controlling skills for complex logistical operations within project management.
- Contractor engagement and management.
- Highly computer literate e.g., Microsoft, CAD.
- Significant vocational experience, demonstrating development through involvement in a series of progressively more demanding and relevant leadership roles, and the acquisition of appropriate professional or specialist knowledge.
- Desirable - Member of relevant professional organisation (BIFM/RICS/APM)
