Asset Management Project Manager in Islington

Immediate start available, 6 month duration initially. Role sits with the Fabric Repairs project. To work with the asset management team in the delivery of projects across the campus. You will ensure that the project delivery is professional, compliant, adheres to the University’s procurement, financial and Health and Safety regulations, whilst being effective, nimble, on budget, on time and completed to the expected standard/quality.

You will liaise with key stakeholders on campus, building strong customer relationships and ensuring that the Fit for Kings culture is a continuous presence on site. You will use your technical expertise to support the wider Asset Management and Engineering team in the delivery of projects across all campus. These projects will range from small and simple minor works to complex and high value strategic technical projects for the campus. The aim of these works is to continually improve the estate for our community, by creating environments which inspire and support learning and research, while protecting and honouring our heritage buildings.

Responsible for the overall management, coordination and governance for Fabric Repairs on various Projects at Strand Campus, ensuring the project is delivered safely, within programme, budget and in accordance with KCL's processes. Key day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Managing the delivery programme and monitoring progress against key milestones.
• Coordinating the professional team, including the Contract Administrator, Heritage Architect, Building Surveyor, Structural Engineer and Principal Designer.
• Acting as the primary point of contact between KCL, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders.
• Reviewing condition surveys and technical recommendations to ensure repairs are proportionate, technically justified and aligned with the project objectives with KCL internal Technical Advisor.
• Managing project governance, including approval of repair scopes, change control, budgets, and procurement activities.
• Monitoring project risks and implementing mitigation measures to maintain programme and minimise operational disruption.
• Coordinating access requirements, scaffold phasing, logistics and stakeholder communications across the operational Strand Campus.
• Chairing and attending progress meetings, site inspections and technical workshops to monitor quality, programme, and commercial performance.
• Reviewing contractor programmes, method statements, risk assessments, and technical submissions.
• Ensuring all repair works are inspected, verified, and formally signed off by the appropriate consultants before progression to subsequent work areas.
• Managing communication with internal stakeholders, heritage consultants and other external parties where required.
• Maintaining project documentation, reporting on programme, cost, risks, and key decisions to senior management.
• Identifying opportunities to improve programme efficiency, including early investigations and procurement of long-lead materials to reduce delivery risk.

Throughout the project, ensure that decisions are evidence-based and options are always provided for high level approval, appropriately governed and aligned with King’s College London’s operational, statutory and heritage obligations.

Be prepared to, on an occasional basis, undertake work outside of normal working hours/weekends in line with the demands of the project. To own and deliver an appropriate change management programme as required that is based upon the strategy and plans of the wider department.

• Degree/Post Grad in relevant field or equivalent experience in Project Management.
• Demonstrable knowledge of H&S legislation with IOSH/NEBOSH.
• Experience of managing all aspects of project management with tangible and demonstrable success with regards to quality, cost, and timescale parameters, including but not limited to stakeholders, management strategy, comms strategy, risk management, financial forecasting and management, H&S management, legal/regulatory compliance, etc.
• Relevant experience within Higher Education sector and/or managing conflicting demands of stakeholders in a customer focused environment.
• Analytical aptitude, with planning and controlling skills for complex logistical operations within project management.
• Contractor engagement and management.
• Highly computer literate e.g., Microsoft, CAD.
• Significant vocational experience, demonstrating development through involvement in a series of progressively more demanding and relevant leadership roles, and the acquisition of appropriate professional or specialist knowledge.
• Desirable - Member of relevant professional organisation (BIFM/RICS/APM).
