At UniQuest, we offer the leading student conversion service for universities â increasing conversion of prospective students for our university partners, while improving the student experience preâenrolment. The Senior Management Accountant role is a key position responsible for providing financial insight and supporting business performance across the organisation. Working closely with the Finance Director and operational teams, the postholder will provide clear financial analysis, support decisionâmaking, and help ensure strong financial control across the business.
The role has three clear purposes:
- To provide financial insight to support decisionâmaking
- To ensure accurate, timely and meaningful financial reporting
- To partner across the business to optimise performance
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare, review and analyse monthly management accounts, including cost analysis, variance commentary, and consolidation across group companies.
- Produce insightful financial reports and dashboards to support decisionâmaking by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and stakeholders.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data and reporting packs, including divisional and partnerâlevel reporting.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
- Lead and coordinate quarterly budgeting and forecasting cycles across the business.
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support business planning and decisionâmaking.
- Provide constructive input and recommendations to improve forecasting accuracy and cost efficiency.
Business Partnering
- Collaborate with department heads to interpret financial data, identify opportunities, and improve performance.
- Partner with the Commercial Team to gain a deep understanding of university partners, their contractual arrangements, and the underlying revenue assumptions that drive performance.
- Present complex financial information in a clear, actionable manner to nonâfinance colleagues.
- Support decisionâmaking by providing financial insight, ensuring alignment between financial performance and business objectives.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of financial and operational initiatives.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and drive efficiency across financial systems and workflows.
- Partner with the Finance Director to support strategic initiatives and commercial projects.
Skills and Experience
- Part qualified accountant or fully qualified accountant â CIMA, ACCA, ACA
- Demonstrated experience in management accounting, with exposure to stakeholder engagement or supporting business decisionâmaking.
- Strong analytical and problemâsolving skills with a commercial mindset.
- Excellent Excel and financial modelling skills; experience using accounting software (Xero desirable).
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex data for a range of audiences.
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in a fastâpaced, dataâdriven environment or within the education sector (preferred, not essential).
