We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Care & Quality to join a well-established care home group. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a clinically credible professional to shape care standards, drive regulatory excellence, and lead quality improvement across a portfolio of nursing homes in the Southeast and East of England.

Salary: £85,000 per annum + performance bonus + 5K car allowance

Location: Essex, Kent, Cambridgeshire & Bedfordshire (multi-site)

Type: Permanent

  • Provide strategic leadership for care and quality across a group of nursing homes, setting the vision for outstanding person-centred care
  • Ensure full compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements, including CQC standards and inspection frameworks
  • Lead on quality assurance, including audit programmes, governance processes, and continuous improvement plans
  • Support, coach, and develop General Managers and clinical leaders to achieve and sustain high performance
  • Oversee safeguarding, risk management, and clinical governance across all services
  • Drive measurable improvements in resident outcomes, experience, and satisfaction
  • Monitor performance data and implement robust action plans where standards require improvement
  • Lead on CQC inspections and maintain effective relationships with external regulators and commissioners
  • Promote best practice in dementia care, end-of-life care, and complex nursing needs

Required Skills & Experience

  • Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with an active NMC PIN - essential
  • Proven track record in a senior clinical leadership role within the care home sector
  • Strong knowledge of CQC regulations and a demonstrable history of improving quality ratings across multiple services
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills, with commercial awareness to balance quality and performance
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the region
