Overview

This role involves the transportation of high level competition horses safely and comfortably across the UK and Europe, ensuring the highest standards of care, presentation, and professionalism.

About the role

  • You will be responsible for the safe transportation of horses to national and international destinations.
  • Oversee and coordinate freelance drivers to ensure company standards are met.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections and ensure vehicles are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and safety.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately, including but not limited to vehicle checks, journey logs, and customs paperwork.
  • Ensure the comfort and safety of horses during loading, transit, and unloading.
  • Plan routes efficiently and adapt to changing schedules or travel conditions.
  • Understanding of layover stables and the routes between them.
  • Take responsibility for vehicle presentation and personal appearance, maintaining a professional image at all times.
  • Act as the point of contact to liaise with the site transport manager.
  • Flexibility to help at home location with the use of any other vehicles and/or machinery.
  • Act as an ambassador for the business, all team members have a responsibility to always demonstrate and advocate company values.

About you

  • Full HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence with a clean driving record (5 years + experience).
  • Valid UK passport.
  • Certificate of competence for long journeys (UK and EU).
  • International drivers DCPC.
  • Previous experience transporting horses (essential).
  • Experience driving internationally, including knowledge of customs and border processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to vehicle and animal safety.
  • Confident, calm, and capable.
  • Ability to lead and support other drivers in maintaining high operational standards.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
