About Positioning Technologies

As part of Spirent, a Keysight company, our Positioning Technologies business unit is where the world's leading companies turn to accelerate time-to-market for next-generation navigation, positioning, and communication systems.

Every significant industry test in the last six years for devices deployed on land, at sea, in the air, and in space has used Spirent's test systems as the benchmark.

We design, manufacture, and support advanced satellite navigation test and simulation systems — combining in-house RF signal generators with complex application software — and we are continually recognized by customers, industry press, and technology associations for innovative, ground-breaking products.

About The Role

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will become a trusted escalation point within our customer support organization, delivering advanced technical solutions for our industry-leading GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) simulation and satellite navigation test systems.

You'll troubleshoot complex RF signal generation, embedded software, and Linux-based test platforms, working directly with customers across aerospace, defense, automotive, and telecommunications to keep mission-critical navigation and positioning systems running.

This is a great next step for a technical support, field application, or systems engineering professional with solid hands-on experience who is ready to take on more complex cases, build toward mentoring junior engineers, and start shaping our product roadmap — all while working with cutting-edge satellite navigation, timing, and synchronization technology.

You will work both independently and collaboratively to analyze complex technical issues, replicate customer environments, and drive resolution through root cause analysis and corrective action.

With growing autonomy, you'll contribute to knowledge creation, continuous improvement of support processes, and the development of junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Own complex hardware and software escalations end-to-end — from initial triage through root cause analysis and final resolution — for customers deploying GNSS simulation and satellite navigation test systems.
  • Use advanced diagnostic tools and RF test equipment (spectrum analysers, power meters, oscilloscopes, signal generators) to isolate, reproduce, and resolve high-impact technical issues.
  • Act as the technical bridge between customers and Engineering, translating real-world field issues into actionable insights that shape the product roadmap.
  • Share best practices in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and customer communication, supporting the development of junior support engineers.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, FAQs, and internal knowledge base / troubleshooting guides.
  • Deliver remote and on-site installation, configuration, integration, and customer training on GNSS test systems.
  • Manage escalated cases in Salesforce and Jira, consistently exceeding SLA and customer satisfaction targets.
  • Support software and firmware releases, including pre-release testing and validation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and QA teams to ensure customer issues are accurately captured, tracked, and resolved.
  • Participate in a global 24/7 support rotation, including on-call and after-hours coverage across time zones.
  • Follow QEHS (Quality, Environment, Health & Safety, and IT Security) policies and procedures at all times.
