To provide high‑quality, person‑centred support to women with mental health needs, enabling them to live independently and lead safe, fulfilling lives. The role is based at Grove View, a friendly, female‑only service in Birchgrove, supporting nine women with a range of mental health needs. The support worker will assist individuals who may experience self‑harm or suicidal thoughts, using relapse‑prevention plans and recognising early warning signs to provide safe, proactive, and compassionate support.
Responsibilities
- Encourage independence while supporting individuals to live meaningful and fulfilling lives
- Support and promote the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests
- Assist with healthcare needs, including medication and attending appointments
- Help build essential life skills such as budgeting, shopping, and managing finances
- Provide personal care where required
- Support with daily household tasks, including cooking and cleaning
- Offer consistent emotional and physical support, guidance, and encouragement
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a support or care role (desirable but not essential)
- A caring, empathetic and patient approach to supporting individuals with mental health needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to support with personal care and daily living tasks
- Basic understanding of safeguarding and person‑centred care principles
- Good organisational skills and ability to follow care plans
- Flexibility to work shifts, including long days and weekends
Requirements
Preferred candidate must be female and over 18 due to a genuine occupational requirement for the people we are supporting. This position is exempt from the gender discrimination rule.
