Job Overview

We’re looking for a full‑time Maintenance Operative to support our portfolio of Care Homes, Schools and Residential Homes for Children and Adults.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general repair and maintenance tasks such as fixing fire doors, patching walls, minor plumbing and day‑to‑day upkeep.
  • Handle larger or specialist jobs through local contractors and supervise external contractors when required.
  • Manage own workload, work independently and coordinate with the Facilities Manager, Head of Facilities and Home Managers to prioritise and plan tasks on site.
  • Maintain the services exterior including gardening, painting, general tidiness and basic repairs.
  • Execute internal decorating to a high standard and carry out general repairs to a high standard.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance – boarding up windows, replacing locks, etc.
  • Assist operational staff with moving furniture and other tasks when directed.
  • Manage allocated monthly spend.
  • Work quickly, effectively and prioritise assigned maintenance requests.
  • Perform carpentry tasks such as door hanging, frame fitting, putting up shelves, boarding up windows, doors and minor furniture repairs.
  • Carry out minor plumbing repairs – replacing taps, repairing minor leaks, replacing TRVs, etc.
  • Maintain the company van in accordance with the Fleet policy and keep the van available only for work purposes.
  • Complete Trackplan timesheets, document materials used and update daily records.
  • Maintain tools and ensure the inventory remains accurate.
  • Attend training courses, meetings and other professional development activities as required.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience in joinery, carpentry and general maintenance.
  • Knowledge of PPE, asbestos and relevant regulations.
  • Full UK driving licence – you will travel between sites.
  • Criminal record disclosure (DBS) must be provided.
  • Experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential.
