The HR Business Partner works with managers and stakeholders to build organisational capability and deliver effective people strategies.

You will provide expert advice and coaching to ensure consistent application of policies, informed by employment law and best practice.

Using a hands‑on approach, you’ll attend operational meetings and use HR data to support decision‑making.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a proactive HRBP service, providing expert people solutions to support divisional strategy
  • Act as HR lead across the full employee lifecycle, including organisational change (restructures, closures, redundancies, TUPE)
  • Maintain strong knowledge of divisional operations (performance, managers, objectives, absence, talent, succession)
  • Partner with leaders to shape and deliver the people strategy
  • Identify people challenges with stakeholders and implement measurable action plans
  • Analyse and present people data and cost‑benefit insights to inform decision‑making
  • Deliver HR training and guidance on development practices (e. g. succession planning, talent mapping)
  • Build strong relationships, influence stakeholders, and challenge to address root issues
  • Coach leaders to enhance capability and employee engagement
  • Contribute to HR policy, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Advise senior leaders on complex/high‑profile HR matters
  • Manage Employment Tribunal cases to achieve effective commercial outcomes
  • Lead/support HR projects (e. g. engagement, reward, systems)
  • Oversee colleague forums (elections, induction, effectiveness)
  • Ensure confidentiality and prioritise safeguarding of children and adults
  • Support wider business goals and act as a visible role model for excellent people practices

Qualifications and Requirements

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years' experience in an HR Business Partner/matrix environment handling complex HR matters
  • Experience in multi‑site, remote operations
  • Proven experience leading and facilitating organisational change
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law with ability to advise on policy and practice
  • Experience advising managers on ER, remuneration, T&Cs, recruitment, and staffing issues
  • Experience managing HR casework through to Employment Tribunal
  • Experience developing and updating HR policies and procedures
  • Strong background in performance management and best practice frameworks
  • Experience using HR systems and data to inform initiatives and reporting
  • Experience delivering training and upskilling others on HR topics
  • Resilient in managing demanding stakeholders and sensitive ER issues
  • Ability to produce HR data and reports
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own car
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the division
