Salary: Up to £47,000

Location: West Midlands

Work Pattern: Home based but with some travel. Office days: Around 2x per month in our Halesowen head office.

Purpose of the Role

To expertly lead and deliver a high-quality, expert HR service across the Division (Adults / Children, Education, A&I). Act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, balancing commercial, regulatory and people risk considerations, with a strong focus on employee relations, safeguarding, and service quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic HR advice to Directors and Operational Managers across the Division
  • Lead on complex ER cases including disciplinaries, grievances, capability and absence
  • Provide expert advice on employee relations cases, safeguarding-related concerns, and risk based decision making
  • Ensure fair, consistent and legally compliant processes aligned with best practice, Keys Group policies and ACAS guidance
  • Manage tribunal risk, including early conciliation, preparation of documentation and liaison with legal advisors
  • Ensure Peoplehub data is accurate / data management and reporting
  • Onboarding ER activity from acquisitions, ELI Data provision and oversight, change management data (including redundancy calculations)
  • Oversight and delivery of Pay Review and quarterly bonus
  • Case reviews – informing continuous improvement and learning
  • Supporting HRBP with employee relations case management and escalation of complex cases
  • Support safeguarding processes, including escalation to Local Authority Designated Officer / regulatory bodies where required
  • Ensure compliance with employment law, GDPR and sector-specific regulations
  • Contribute to / support operational colleagues with audit readiness and inspections
  • Drive initiatives to improve engagement, retention and wellbeing
  • Support the EDI strategy, addressing unconscious bias and championing inclusive practice
  • Support leadership capability through coaching and the delivery of HR training / presentations / management induction / EDI for Leaders
  • Lead, develop and mentor the HR Advisers:
  • Ensure efficient delivery of HR support in the Division
  • Lead the HR Advisers and develop their knowledge, skills, and expertise
  • Use data and metrics to inform decision-making (absence, turnover, ER trends) – driving actions to improve performance (GLT report). Achieve KPIs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in HR service delivery and processes
  • Involvement and delivery of projects, as needed

Key Accountabilities

  • Legal / policy / regulatory compliance and minimisation of employment tribunal risk
  • High-quality, timely ER case resolution

Qualifications & Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and case law
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks in health/social care (e.g. CQC, safeguarding)

Experience:

  • Proven experience in an HR Manager or Senior HR Adviser role (3 years minimum)
  • Extensive experience managing complex employee relations cases
  • Experience within health, social care, education or regulated environments (highly desirable)
  • Experience supporting restructures, TUPE and organisational change
  • Experience with HR systems and people analytics tools
