Purpose of the Role

To plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching that meets the diverse needs of pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours.

At Broadwood School, we put our KS1 to KS5 pupils at the centre of how we work and have created a school that is welcoming, caring, safe, nurturing and warm. We develop our pupils’ social and emotional resilience by having clear boundaries which pupils are supported to thrive within. The school uses a restorative approach to conflict which allows pupils to quickly reintegrate into their learning. Within our newly introduced nurturing room, we have a variety of methodical approaches to help calm students down from Lego Therapy to our sensory sandpit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, teach, and assess a range of subjects and learning to support students’ progression within English from Functional Skills to GCSE.
  • Work as part of the team to deliver lessons, support positive behaviour, and to make students feel safe so that they can learn and achieve.
  • Follow whole school systems to teaching and learning. We will support you with a full induction; we are a very supportive team.
  • Support and oversee the curriculum, helping to expand our curriculum documents as part of a team, data collection, and clearly communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Create engaging and safe learning environments.

Requirements

  • A committed and passionate view of students with SEND.
  • At least two years’ experience minimum of working in a SEND environment or similar unit/provision.
  • QTS/QTLS is a requirement.
