To support teaching and learning by assisting teachers in delivering education and care to pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours. The SEND Teaching Assistant will embody the EPIC values and adhere strictly to the Staff Code of Conduct to create a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment that promotes pupil wellbeing and achievement.

At Denby Grange School, we currently offer the opportunity for all pupils who are working at that level to achieve nationally recognised accreditation in English, Maths, Science, Personal and Social Development, PHSE, Design Technology, Food Technology. This runs alongside our own internal accreditation for academic progress and achievement.

In order to meet the diverse needs of the children at Denby Grange School, we ensure that the staff to pupil ratio is always very high. The school is currently registered for 50 pupils and at present there is a Headteacher, Associate Headteacher, School Administrator, a further 12 full time teaching members and 20 teaching assistants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Mentoring, supporting and inspiring learners by supporting them with curriculum-based learning in the classroom, on home tuition and outreach and through outdoor activities.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning material and contributing to the delivery of learning objectives with a strong focus on behavioural management.
  • Daily reports on learners’ progress and barriers to learning.
  • Interaction with parents/care givers on a regular basis.
Requirements:
  • A committed and passionate view of students with SEND.
  • At least two years’ experience minimum of working in a SEND environment or similar unit/provision.
  • A level 3 TA qualification is advantageous.
