As the company continues to grow rapidly across all business sectors, the requirement for robust technical assurance and engineering governance is paramount. Within this context, the Naval Architect is a critical technical authority reporting to the Head of Projects. The Naval Architect supports project delivery, vessel operations, engineering design, regulatory compliance and risk management across the full lifecycle of KML’s marine activities.
The Naval Architect provides stability, structural and hydrodynamic analysis, develops engineering methodology, and ensures that KML’s offshore, coastal and nearshore operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in alignment with best practice and statutory requirements.
Role Overview: The Naval Architect is a key contributor to the technical credibility and operational capability of the organisation. This role combines classical naval architecture with practical offshore engineering, operational planning, and cross-functional project delivery.
The Naval Architect acts as a technical reference point across the business: ensuring that engineering assumptions are valid, vessel behaviour is properly understood, operational margins are defined and respected, and engineering solutions are feasible, cost-effective and safe. The role spans early-stage feasibility assessment, vessel and equipment selection, detailed engineering design, mobilisation planning.
