About the role

Keynetics is looking for a practical, dependable and self-motivated Installation & Field Service Technician to join our team in Malvern. This is a varied, hands-on role involving the installation, maintenance and support of secure key-management systems at customer sites throughout the UK and Ireland. You will spend much of your time working independently in the field, travelling between customer locations and carrying out planned installations. When you are not on the road, you will work from our Malvern office preparing equipment and supporting the wider Operations team. Full training will be provided on Keynetics products and installation processes. We are looking for someone who already has good practical ability, is confident using tools, can deal professionally with customers and is comfortable taking responsibility for their own work once trained. Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer is not essential.

What you’ll be doing

  • Your role will include installing and servicing key-management systems, using hand and power tools, completing basic technical checks, commissioning devices through smartphone-based applications and completing digital job records and photographs.
  • You will also carry out vehicle and equipment checks, look after company tools and stock, communicate with our Operations and Technical teams when issues arise, and represent Keynetics professionally at customer sites.
  • A typical field day will involve reviewing your planned jobs, travelling to site, completing a digital risk assessment, carrying out the installation, recording the completed work and then travelling to your next appointment.
  • Depending on the route, you may complete several installations in a day before either travelling to a pre-arranged hotel or returning to Malvern.

About you

We are more interested in how you work than your exact job title or industry background. You should be practical, reliable, organised, detail-focused and comfortable working independently once trained. You should also be confident dealing with customers, comfortable using smartphone apps and digital forms, and willing to ask for support when needed.

Essential requirements

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Practical experience using hand or power tools
  • Experience in a practical, installation, maintenance, service or similarly hands-on role
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently at customer sites
  • Willing to travel throughout the UK and occasionally Ireland
  • Comfortable with overnight hotel stays as a regular part of the role
  • Able to pass the required DBS/background checks

Backgrounds that may suit this role include installation, facilities maintenance, telecoms, security, CCTV, access control, automotive fitting, equipment servicing, mechanical maintenance, construction, appliance repair or other practical customer-facing work.

Training and support

You will receive training on our products, systems, installation procedures and safety requirements. You will then work alongside an experienced Keynetics installer before progressing to suitable independent installations once you are comfortable and competent. Even when working independently, you will have full support from our Operations and Technical teams.

Travel

Regular UK travel is an important part of this role, with occasional travel to Ireland. The working pattern can include early starts, substantial driving and overnight hotel stays depending on the installation schedule. Hotels are arranged in advance, and business travel and accommodation costs are covered by Keynetics.

What we offer

  • £29,000 annual salary
  • Performance-related bonus
  • Company vehicle for business use
  • Company pension
  • Business travel and hotel accommodation paid
  • Full product and installation training
  • Company tools and equipment
  • Support from an experienced field and office-based team
  • Varied work across different customer locations
