Site Manager – Groundworks & Utilities Location: Reading Type: Freelance / Contract Start: Immediate Clearance: BPSS (Desirable – Can Be Arranged) We are seeking an experienced Site Manager with a strong background in groundworks and utilities to oversee a high-security infrastructure project in Reading. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced, technically complex package of works with a subcontractor delivering civils and below-ground utilities on a major site. Key Responsibilities: * Daily management of site activities, subcontractors, and workforce * Ensuring works are carried out to specification, programme, and health & safety requirements * Coordinating groundworks and utility installation (ducting, drainage, service diversions, etc.) * Chairing site meetings and liaising with engineers, supervisors, and the delivery team * Ensuring accurate site records, RAMS, and permits are in place * Reporting progress and escalating issues to the Project Manager as needed Requirements: * Proven experience as a Site Manager in groundworks and utilities (ideally on secure or sensitive sites) * CSCS Black Card and SMSTS required * Strong understanding of civil engineering and utility coordination * Ability to manage subcontractors and site teams effectively under programme pressure * BPSS clearance is desirable, but not essential — the client is prepared to initiate checks for the right candidate Additional Information: * Project is live with an immediate start available * Working on a secure site – compliance and attention to detail are critical * Long-term work available for the right candidate To express your interest or request more details, please apply with an up-to-date CV or reach out directly for a confidential chat
