We are seeking a Highways Design Engineer to support the delivery of a wide range of highways, traffic engineering and active travel schemes. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer looking to take ownership of projects while working closely with clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver highway improvement, traffic engineering and active travel schemes
- Produce design drawings, reports and technical documentation
- Organise and undertake site visits, surveys and investigations
- Deliver projects to agreed timescales and budgets
- Ensure compliance with quality, Health & Safety and Environmental standards
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and sub-consultants
- Work collaboratively with clients to develop project objectives and solutions
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 6 years' experience within highways design
- Strong understanding of Local Highway Authority standards
- Commercial awareness in project delivery
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior staff
- Working knowledge of programme tools such as ASTA
- Knowledge of DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20 and related guidance
- Experience using AutoCAD (drainage, alignment and traffic signage experience desirable)
- Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Full UK/EEC driving licence
